Mary Poppins Drops Into the Cadillac Palace Theatre

Monday April 27, 2009
Mary PoppinsThe wildly popular Broadway show Mary Poppins has begun a national tour and Chicago is its first stop. Unlike some shows that go on tour, the Chicago production is fortunate to have the stars of the original Broadway production, Ashley Brown (as Mary Poppins) and Gavin Lee (as Bert), along for the ride. Mary Poppins won a Tony Award, and if you are a big fan of the Julie Andrews movie version you won't be disappointed -- the production is packed with all the catchy tunes we remember from our childhood such as "A Spoonful of Sugar", "Chim Chim Cheree", and the song that producers would have been remiss if they left it out, "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious". The show is currently scheduled to run through July 12, 2009, and since a second engagement is beginning July 17 in Cleveland, an extended run here seems highly unlikely.
