Taste of Chicago FAQ

Wednesday July 2, 2008
Wow, if the same weather and crowds hold up like I saw the last few days at Taste of Chicago, total attendance is sure to be one for the record books. Here's a Taste of Chicago FAQ I put together based on reader questions that have been making their way into my inbox. If you feel there's a vital piece of info missing from there or my Taste of Chicago profile, feel free to let me know.

Jammin' at the Zoo 2008

Friday June 27, 2008

One of the great things about summer in Chicago are all the fantastic outdoor concerts that happen throughout the city. The shows I always try to catch are the ones at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Their annual "Jammin' at the Zoo" series is a casual environment with general admission and lawn seating, and a very unique venue to see some well known national acts and old favorites. This year's "Jammin' at the Zoo" features my family's personal guilty pleasure, Blondie (my wife was a member of the fan club in her youth) playing tonight, June 27, followed by Fastball and Blind Melon on July 25, and Soul Asylum on August 22.

You can buy tickets either by visiting the zoo's Gateway Pavilion between 10am - 5pm every day, by phone at 312-742-2283, or purchase tickets online. Some things to consider when ordering:

  • Tickets ordered by phone will be mailed. Tickets ordered online need to be printed and brought with to the concert. There is no "will call".
  • Hard tickets are issued if you purchase them at the zoo's Gateway Pavilion
  • There is a $3.75 "convenience fee" added for each ticket ordered online
  • Tickets can be purchased at the gate if the show is not sold out (which they do, so best to buy in advance).
  • What: Jammin' at the Zoo 2008
  • Where: Lincoln Park Zoo, Main Mall
  • When: Blondie - June 27, 2008; Fastball and Blind Melon - July 25, 2008; Soul Asylum - August 22, 2008. Gates open at 6 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m.
  • Admission: Adults: $23 ($28 at the gate), Children 4-12: $12 ($14 at the gate), children 3 and under are free. Zoo members receive a $2 discount.

Please note, no outside food or beverages, cameras, recording devices, or pets are allowed.
