Chicago Restaurant Review Price and Ratings Key

By Prescott Carlson, About.com

Here are some specifics about my restaurant reviews and my star ratings and price symbols:

The reviews are in no way related to any advertising appearing on About.com. They are a listing of restaurants that I have reviewed and recommend. My visit to the restaurants are anonymous, and all expenses are paid for by myself (or if I'm lucky, my dining companion).

Star ratings are determined by a combination of overall factors: food quality, menu selection, service, value, and atmosphere.

5 stars = out of this world, 4 stars = excellent, 3 stars = very good, 2 stars = good, 1 star = hey, you're in Chicago on a visit, why bother with a 1 star restaurant?

Price symbols indicate the overall cost of a meal (generally appetizer, main course, and dessert) per person, without tax, tip, or wine/alcohol.

¢ = under $15; $ = $15-$30; $$ = $30-$39; $$$ = $40-$49; $$$$ = $50-plus, bring the gold card.

If you have a strongly differing opinion about any of my recommended restaurants, feel free to contact me about your dining experience.
