The Hotel Monaco Chicago is what I call a "sleeper hotel" -- it doesn't look like much on the outside (it's located in a former hat factory), but the inside is a whole other story. The Hotel Monaco has taken a unique approach to business accommodations, eschewing traditional drab decor and furnishings and opting instead for whimsical French-inspired decor. The lobby desk is meant to resemble a large steamer trunk, and the rooms feature large crimson headboards and green and pink striped walls. While it may sound a little over the top, it will be a surprisingly refreshing change from what one may be used to in a hotel.
Location is another plus that the Hotel Monaco has going for it. Set along the Chicago river on the north end of the Loop puts it close to the downtown business district, theaters, Millennium Park, Michigan Avenue shopping, and River North entertainment.
Amenities include: free wireless internet throughout the hotel, morning coffee and evening wine service, business center, 24 hour room service, fitness room, spa, valet and laundry service, free shoeshine, free morning newspaper, in room safe, pet-friendly hotel
