The Intercontinental Chicago Hotel Website
The Intercontinental Chicago started life as the Medinah Athletic Club back in 1929, and over the years the hotel has done its best to maintain the art deco facade and 1920s sensibilities all with modern touches. The hotel fits in nicely with its historic neighbors the Wrigley Building and the Tribune Tower. The Intercontinental's location at the south end of the Mag Mile makes it convenient for a whirlwind day of shopping.
Guest rooms and suites are very nicely furnished. Rooms in the historic tower feature a European design with a lot of gold tones and a marble bathroom, and sport lovely city or Lake Michigan views. Rooms in the main building are more contemporary, with dark woods and red accents. The Intercontinental puts a high priority on customer service.
Entertainment includes Zest Restaurant, a 1920s style bar, ENO Wine Room, and a 24-hour fitness center and junior olympic sized swimming pool.
Amenities include: City and lake views with windows that open (a big plus in my book), High-speed internet access via T-1 lines, oversized desks, dual-line phones with computer hookups, 27-inch TVs, mini bar, iron/ironing board, clock radio, coffeemaker and coffee/tea, terry cloth robes, daily newspaper, and twice-daily maid service.
Events: The Intercontinental has six ballrooms and over 42,000 square feet of event space as well as a 24-hour business center.
